'Pitkin: A family of the Kangaroo Creek region, according to Granny (Daly) Maxwell, given to whining. Wherefore Uncle Bill Maxwell (Dr Maxwell) was known in his own family as 'Pitkin' because he was a whining, querulous child. 'An everlasting, crying, whining Nuisance,' as his mother described his youngest years, and subject to bullying from the next youngest, Clarrie, 'as soon as he got up on his own two feet', again according to Granny.
Also in the album where she had the photo of Clarence in his naval uniform and Bill in his cap and gown which is on my website she wrote under it
'1920 Clarence Bede Maxwell and Dr Wm Maxwell, later Sir Wm Maxwell'
Do we know about the 'Sir' and how it came about?8
